Mark has only taken over the new acquisitions department in a publishing company and is meeting with his staff, including Mariah, who he's discovered is a budding author. She was keeping her novel a secret, and is ashamed when he says that he'so read, and loved it. To make matters worse, the material is sexually charged, that he confronts her around.
